Hiking that 5.5 miles today got me thinking: what is the hardest part of a journey? Either a very difficult hike, or any other goal one sets out to accomplish. Today I hiked about 5.5 miles of the hardest terrain the NJ section of the Palisades Interstate Park has to offer. We stopped at the foot of a waterfall for lunch, and I ate a ham and cheese sandwich, two apples, and a baggie of granola for lunch, seated at the bottom of a gleaming cascade, overlooking the Hudson. So I finished up The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. While I’ll admit that it absolutely needs to be read with a large grain or two of salt, he does make some excellent points.
